Despite billions of dollars in donations aimed at education and economic development over decades, the current social impact model in Africa isn’t working.
“Youth make up 75% of sub-Saharan Africa’s population – approximately 200 million people – while some 60% of the unemployed are youths. If not properly dealt with, high unemployment levels among the youth pose a significant security threat and potential disruption.”
— Raphael Obonyo, Africa’s High Unemployment a Security Threat, September 29, 2021, Good Governance Africa
The Theodora Africa model breaks this cycle by creating immediate, high-paying employment via training in professional services and a demand-driven virtual business model selling those professional services in developed countries.
How the Theodora Africa Model Changes The Game
We provide sustainable benefits on a fixed initial donation amount: Our virtual businesses are designed to become self-sufficient, thus funding future benefits (jobs) for participants.
Our concept is scalable with a vast market for the business services we provide, and a vast pool of disadvantaged women for us to work with: Our basic model starts with demand. It works because there is a huge demand for the services we provide. Combine this with the vast number of women in Africa looking for opportunities and you have the potential for massive growth.
Direct impact to our beneficiaries. There is no ‘middle organization between the funds coming in and the benefit to our women: All our business revenue goes directly to our women in the form of salaries and the overhead the business needs to operate.
Actual well-paying jobs drive real transformation: Having jobs makes all the difference! One can educate, one can reclaim people for trafficked situations, but if you don’t put people in well-paying jobs with a supportive environment, you are not going to get meaningful long-term transformation.
We create real economic development: Not only are we transforming disadvantaged women, the outsourcing model means all the revenue that comes in is real economic development benefit for the countries we are working in. We don’t take from the existing economic pie, we make the pie larger.
