Before my involvement with Theodora, my life lacked purpose, and I spent my days hustling on the streets for survival. Dreams of education, a well-paying job, self-confidence, and societal respect seemed unreachable. However, since joining Theodora, my life underwent a profound transformation. I received comprehensive training, both academically and in general knowledge. I gained self-confidence and earned respect from both society and my family. When I reflect on my journey, tears well up at times, contemplating what my life might have been without Theodora and the clients who make the mission possible.

I was living by my wits. Life was tough for me. There are no jobs available, so as you grow up with no proper education, men take advantage of you as a young, naive girl. I tried so many times to get a job when I moved from the village to the city. Men promised to give me a job if I would sleep with them all to no avail. Things were getting hard, and I needed to survive as I had not only myself but my newborn baby. A friend introduced me to a male friend of his who promised to pay me after he got what he wanted from me. I needed the money badly, so I finally gave in, and at the end of the day, I got money which helped me in that moment a lot. From there, I started getting such introductions and gradually, I became a sex worker.

I hated it when I finally realized what had happened to myself. I wanted to get out, but I didn’t have any way. I’d lost my confidence. One day I met the founder of Theodora. He selected me as test for the Theodora program because they saw capability in me. Becoming part of Theodora is one of the best things that has happened to me. My life has totally turned around. I’m respected everywhere I go. My past is in my past, and I see a beautiful future with Theodora Ghana. It is our dream to transform many women’s lives because opportunities like these are hard to come by in our country. We are grateful for Theodora.

In late 2021, I faced a critical turning point in my life. I encountered the harsh reality of homelessness, coupled with overwhelming feelings of frustration and despair. With limited options, I sought refuge at a friend’s residence, where I resided for a year. I had the fortune of engaging with Theodora Ghana Virtual Assistants. My experience with this organization has been transformative. It provided not only a nurturing environment but also a platform for extensive learning and personal growth. Today, I am proud to have my own living space, a serene apartment that also serves as a conducive environment for my work. This transition from uncertainty to stability is a testament to the opportunities and support provided by Theodora.
